More Than Conquerors Church (formerly Sylvester Baptist Church) experienced a defining moment in 1995 with the appointment of Pastor C. L. May as Senior Pastor. A native of Greenville, Mississippi, Pastor May brings a distinctive, life-transforming ministry marked by depth, clarity, and spiritual authority—aptly described as “Unlike the Traditional and Beyond the Ordinary.” Under his guiding motto, “A Life-Changing Ministry,” the church has grown steadily, and countless lives have been impacted through salvation, discipleship, and spiritual renewal.
Dr. May is a gifted preacher and teacher whose expository ministry is firmly grounded in the Word of God. With bold conviction and clear communication, he presents biblical truth through relatable illustrations, sound theology, and authentic leadership. His God-given vision is to evangelize the world, educate the saints, and edify the body of Christ. Widely recognized as a significant voice for Christ, Pastor May has crossed denominational lines to deliver a relevant, Kingdom-focused message that speaks to both the heart and the times. His ministry continues to transform lives as he travels extensively throughout the United States and East Africa, proclaiming the uncompromised gospel of Jesus Christ.
Beyond the pulpit, Dr. May has served for more than a decade as a professor at Beulah Heights University, where he has taught courses in Pulpit Speech, Expository Preaching, and Church History. His passion for developing leaders is evident in his commitment to equipping students with both theological depth and practical ministry insight.
In 2007, Dr. May founded LifeWater Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, enhancement, and empowerment. As President, he leads initiatives focused on closing the educational gap, promoting financial literacy, expanding affordable housing, and providing vocational training. Known as a tireless administrator and visionary collaborator, Pastor May works closely with small businesses, churches, elected officials, and community leaders across the metropolitan Atlanta area to create lasting, community-centered impact.
Dr. May earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Beulah Heights University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Faith Theological Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. His academic journey reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence in ministry, leadership, and theological education.
Dr. May is married to LaTonje May, and together they are the proud parents of four children—Porsha, Travis, Caleb, and Jayla. The May family resides in Henry County, Georgia, where they continue to live out their faith through service, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to Christ and community.
